Meet Nikhyta…

My name is Nikhyta. I became a Community First Responder (CFR) as I wanted to give back to the community. I lost my grandmother in 2014 and since then I’ve always been interested in helping the community in whatever capacity I could. However, I did not know how I to go about it.

In 2016 my uncle suffered a Cardiac Arrest, and this spurred on my passion of wanting to help even more. I saw the kind of lifesaving CPR that was provided as a result of which my uncle made a full recovery.

When I joined SCAS in 2018, I learned about CFR’s, and I knew straight away I wanted to help and felt this was something I could do. I enjoy feeling part of a team and working alongside amazing ambulance staff, knowing I’ve done all I can to help a patient.

“Working alongside other CFR’s and seeing their dedication has made me respect the important work we all carry out”.

Knowing how to do CPR and help in emergency situations has helped me feel a sense of purpose in knowing I have made a difference not only to that patient’s life but maybe also their family members. I would highly recommend becoming a CFR as it has given me a sense of purpose that I have never felt before.
