In recognition of his service to the community of Fawley, a parish within the New Forest in Hampshire, SCAS paramedic Andy Headley has been named as Fawley’s Finest.

Andy, who started out as a volunteer community first responder, has now been a paramedic with SCAS for 10 years, as well as a RNLI volunteer for 15 years. His award, presented by the chair of Fawley Parish Council, Alan Alvey, was given in recognition of Andy’s efforts in organising the annual Emergency Services Day.

The local Emergency Services Day, now in its fifth year, is a free community event to promote the work of local emergency services, giving people the chance to talk to staff and volunteers, see the latest vehicles and equipment, learn lifesaving first aid skills and find out about job and volunteer opportunities. As well as SCAS, other organisations who regularly attend the event include Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, HM Coastguard, RNLI and Hampshire Search & Rescue.

This year’s event takes place on Saturday, 23 May, at Gang Warily Recreation Centre from 10am to 4pm.

Upon receiving his award, Andy said: “I am honoured to be recognised in this way and humbled, as I simply try to help others.”
