South Central Ambulance Charity are looking for new volunteers to join them as community CPR advocates. These volunteers will support its objective of educating people on how to carry out effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of public access defibrillators.
This is an opportunity for members of the public to step forward and support their local community by providing people with essential life-saving skills.
As a community CPR advocate, volunteers will empower members of the public to be able to carry out effective CPR in emergencies, allowing them to potentially save lives. No prior experience is needed—just a passion for helping others learn this essential skill and help our communities become safer.
Community CPR advocates will have the opportunity to attend local community groups and schools, and to be an important part of Restart a Heart Day. They will be provided with a PowerPoint presentation which will also highlight the work of the South Central Ambulance Charity, and how donations enable it to meet its objectives.
Volunteers will receive annual training to ensure they have the correct teaching and CPR skills, and they will be supported by other local volunteers (including volunteer responders) and South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) staff.
Sarah Callaghan, Volunteer Manager, said “We are excited to welcome new volunteers to South Central Ambulance Charity and this role is vital in helping us reach as many people as possible to learn CPR and understand how defibrillators work in emergency situations. We are looking for 10 people per county initially and so would like to encourage people to apply as soon as possible.”
More information about the role can be found on the charity website
