During the Emergency Services Day event held at Gang Warily on 23 May, Fawley Parish Council presented Chas McGill MBE, Public Governor for Hampshire at South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS), with a special award recognising an incredible 60 years’ service to the emergency services.

Chas has dedicated much of his life to supporting emergency care and public service within the local community and beyond. His longstanding commitment and passion for helping others have made a significant impact over many decades.

Chas said: “The services attending on the day inspired me to continue doing what I enjoy most, working alongside positive, supportive people who are committed to making a difference in the community.”

The event itself was originally established by Chas alongside Andy Headley, (Paramedic, SCAS),  reflecting his continued dedication to community engagement and emergency service awareness.

The success of the event was also supported by the hard work and dedication of Dan Friend, (Team Leader, SCAS) and Kimberley Pack,(Clinical Team Educator, SCAS)  who played an important role in helping organise and deliver the day.

The award was presented by Sir Julian Lewis MP, who attended the event to recognise Chas’s remarkable contribution and commitment to public service.

Everyone at SCAS congratulates Chas on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his many years of dedication and service.
