Volunteer car drivers
Do you like driving? Do you like meeting new people? Do you have some time to spare?
If so, why not join our team of volunteer car drivers. The service is managed by our charity and supports the non-emergency Patient Transport Service. Our PTS team, and the volunteers who support them, help hundreds of people every day to get to and from hospital appointments. Â
No previous experience is required just a friendly caring attitude and some spare time. We offer complete flexibility so you can volunteer as little or as much as you like, whilst fitting in with other commitments.Â
To become a Volunteer Car Driver you need to:Â
- Be aged over 18Â
- Have a valid UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty pointsÂ
- Have access to a four door carÂ
- Undertake a Disclosure and Barring ( DBS ) checkÂ
- Able to use a mobile phoneÂ
As part of the application process you will be invited to attend:Â
- Occupational health screeningÂ
- Basic driver assessmentÂ
- Volunteer induction, this will give you the opportunity to meet other Volunteers and support staff.Â
In recognition to your contribution we offer youÂ
- Mileage allowanceÂ
- Ongoing supportÂ
- Uniform and equipmentÂ
