Three-year-old Mabel thanks Mia and Summer

We were delighted to welcome three-year-old, Mabel, and her Mum, Verity, to our North Harbour Resource Centre in Portsmouth this week.

At the end of July, Mabel had a serious choking incident whilst eating at home and Verity had called 999 for urgent help. Paramedic, Mia, and emergency care assistant, Summer, rushed to the family home in Southsea. After initial assessment and treatment, Mabel was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital where she was admitted for 24 hours before being discharged home to continue recovering.

“Mia and Summer were brilliant with Mabel”, remembers Verity, “and were informative, kind, caring and professional. It took a little while for Mabel to be comfortable with solid foods again but I’m pleased to say she is now totally back to normal and hasn’t stopped talking about her trip on the nee-naw since!”

The girls were thrilled to see Mabel, Verity and Chase from Paw Patrol, again in much happier circumstances and delighted to receive a home-made card from Mabel (with a little bit of help from Mum!) and give her a tour of the ambulance station.

Mabel liked sitting in the driver’s seat and turning on the blue lights best of all! She enjoyed her visit so much that she told Mia and Summer she would be back one day to work with them on the ambulances.

Verity also wanted to pass on her thanks to Frankie, Holly and Phil who were the team in our emergency operations control room who responded to the 999 call.
