South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) Community First Responders (CFRs) have been engaging with local residents through two friendly and informal sessions organised with Communi-Tea in Blackbird Leys, Oxford.

The first session took place on 14 October, with CFR Andy Long joining residents for a drop-in session at the community café, offering an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the ambulance service.

A second session followed on 3 November, when Andy was joined by Adrian Black, CFR and Public Governor for Oxfordshire, to meet residents following a fitness class.

Andy and Adrian demonstrated cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and raised awareness of how to use a defibrillator, helping residents feel more confident about what to do in a cardiac emergency.

Reflecting on the visits, Andy said:

“They were both positive sessions. Everyone contributed enthusiastically once we got talking, and the feedback was excellent”

The visits are part of SCAS’s ongoing commitment to building relationships with local communities, equipping residents with potentially lifesaving skills and creating opportunities for people to engage directly with the ambulance service.

SCAS looks forward to continuing its partnership with Communi-Tea and exploring further opportunities to connect with residents.
