How SCAS charity funds are spent

In 2025, the South Central Ambulance Charity raised over £520,000. The total came from money raised by the charity’s volunteers, income from events and donations, as well as legacy income (such as gifts in wills).

The charity receives no NHS funding and is 100% reliant on donations and grants to fund its lifesaving work.

The money raised last year was spent on:

  • 230 new wipe clean medical kit bags for CFRs
  • 179 new volunteer community first responders (CFRs) recruited
  • 105 new ZOLL defibrillators for volunteer CFRs
  • 31 new defibrillator batteries
  • 21 new training defibrillators

In addition, over £250,000 was spent on new volunteer CFR equipment, over £14,000 on uniform for new volunteer CFRs and over £27,000 on line rental for volunteer CFR phones that they use for deployment to 999 emergencies. The charity also funded Christmas Day refreshments for SCAS staff on duty.

The amazing team of volunteer CFRs covering the four counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire attended 25,891 emergency incidents, and donated a total of 170,690 volunteering hours to the charity.

The 28-strong team of volunteer car drivers in Hampshire who support the SCAS patient transport service, travelled 629,589 miles taking patients to planned hospital and treatment centre appointments – that’s the equivalent of travelling around the Earth more than 25 times!

And when they weren’t helping to save lives in their communities, or taking patients to hospital for vital appointments, our volunteers also found the time to donate over 8,300 hours to help raise funds for the SCAS Charity.
