CQC inspection

Earlier this month the Care Quality Commission returned to the trust to carry out a comprehensive inspection of our operational services.

The inspectors arrived at our northern emergency operations centre on Tuesday 6 May. Over the following four days inspection teams visited 17 sites including both of our emergency operations centres, local ambulance stations, our pharmacy service, and five emergency departments where our crews were handing over patients.

The inspectors spoke with a wide range of teams, listened to calls with patients and between dispatchers and crews, spoke with staff on station, accompanied crews on ride outs, and spoke with a range of people from support services including Make Ready and Education.

David Eltringham, Chief Executive, said: “This was a comprehensive visit which has given the inspection team a detailed picture of the services we provide across four counties.

“It has been a great opportunity to highlight the many improvements we have made, and the high-quality care our teams provide every day.

“We are looking forward to receiving the inspection report on the recent visit, and to the follow-up inspection on the well-led domain.”

Timings for publishing a report on the operational visit and carrying out the well-led inspection will be led by the CQC.
