South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) Community First Responders Jacqueline Watts and Andrew Withers joined families for a Family Fun Day organised by Wokingham Borough Council at Earley Library on Monday 3 August.
The day saw plenty of families stopping by the SCAS stand to find out more about lifesaving CPR skills.
The CPR demonstrations proved particularly popular with younger visitors, who were keen to get involved and practise their skills on the training manikins. While some of the adults were a little more hesitant to have a go themselves, they were able to watch the demonstrations and learn more about what to do in an emergency.
At times the event was very crowded, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere. Entertainment from the ukulele group added to the sense of community and helped make it an enjoyable day for families, volunteers and organisations taking part.
Events like this provide an important opportunity for SCAS to engage directly with local communities, introduce children and families to basic lifesaving skills, and build confidence in responding to an emergency.
