Associate ambulance practitioner, Fyona Shannon, based at the Blue Light Hub in Milton Keynes, has supported our stroke campaign by pulling together a short video to help the public carry out a FAST test on someone their with to check if they might have symptoms of stroke.
Every minute counts when someone is having a stroke, and knowing what to look for could help save a life.
In the video, Fyona shows how to carry out a simple FAST assessment at home to help identify the most common signs of a stroke.
Face – Has their face fallen on one side? Can they smile?
Arms – Can they raise both arms and keep them there?
Speech – Is their speech slurred or difficult to understand?
Time – If you notice any of these signs, call 999 immediately.
The FAST test is quick, easy to remember and can help ensure someone gets the urgent treatment they need.
