The Chief Paramedic role was established on a secondment basis in 2024. Following formal recruitment, we have now confirmed Duncan Robertson in the permanent role.

David Eltringham, Chief Executive, welcomed Duncan, saying: “I strongly believe it’s essential that ambulance trusts have a Chief Paramedic.

“Since Duncan joined us on secondment, we’ve really seen the benefit of having a role that formally represents paramedics at the Exec team and Board table. It’s strengthening our clinical leadership within the Trust and strengthening our voice in national and regional networks.

“I’m very pleased that Duncan has agreed to join the Trust in the permanent role.”

Duncan said: “I’m pleased to be joining SCAS on a permanent basis. During my time here, I’ve come to appreciate the commitment and compassion of our people.

“Clinically, I’m excited to help shape new roles, particularly in advanced and enhanced practice, and to embed clinical supervision as a core part of our everyday work.

“Thank you to everyone who’s made me feel part of the team. I look forward to working together to continually enhance the quality, safety, and equity of the care we provide to our communities.”
