We are delighted to confirm that Becky Southall will be joining South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) as Chief Governance Officer, from mid-December 2024.
Welcoming the appointment, Chief Executive David Eltringham, said: “There was a strong field of candidates and Becky’s passion for improving care quality and making sure robust governance supports clinical teams to deliver the best quality care really impressed the panel.
“Becky has a wealth of experience across local and national roles in the NHS, supported by legal experience outside the NHS. I’m really pleased that we’ve been able to appoint such a strong candidate and look forward to Becky joining us later this year.”
Becky joins us from Birmingham Women’s & Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, where she currently holds the position of Quality Director. She started her career as a healthcare lawyer before joining the NHS in 2001. Within the NHS, she has worked in legal, corporate and quality governance roles in a variety of acute and community settings in the West Midlands.
Becky said: “I am delighted to be joining SCAS and am looking forward to helping with the the Trust’s improvement journey. I am committed to supporting staff to deliver the best care they can and look forward to meeting colleagues from across the organisation later this year.”
Prior to her current Quality Director role, Becky has also spent five years at the national level in NHS England, primarily supporting trusts in the Recovery Support Programme to improve and enhance their governance arrangements, working with staff at all levels of the organisation. Becky is also a visiting lecturer at Birmingham City University and delivers a module on the NHS England Making Data Count Programme.
