On Sunday 7 September, the Blue Light Hub in Milton Keynes hosted an Emergency Services Open Day.

More than 2,000 visitors attended to enjoy a packed programme of demonstrations, including police and fire displays and a simulated road traffic collision led by a SCAS team leader. Huw Pateman, SCAS Public Governor, joined Community First Responders (CFRs) and the charity team to deliver CPR demonstrations, showcase vehicles, and run games and competitions. 999 Ted was also on hand, delighting children and families throughout the day.

Alongside a raffle, tombola, cake stall, face painting, and even an appearance by Milo, the fire dog in training, SCAS staff carried out nearly 50 free mini health checks. These included blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and glucose monitoring. While no one required hospital treatment, some visitors were advised to follow up with their GP. It was a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of community health and prevention.

The event also raised around £3,300 for The SCAS Charity, The Curtis Palmer Programme, and The Fire Fighters Charity.

It was a fantastic day for the community, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next year.
