SCAS colleagues enjoyed a fantastic day on 19 September of community engagement at the Thames Valley Police (TVP) Open Day, with thousands of visitors coming along to find out more about the work of the emergency services.
The SCAS team, led by Steven Pithers, Paramedic Team Leader, Luke Smalley, Paramedic, had a busy day engaging with members of the public and providing hands-on demonstrations.
CPR and AED demonstrations proved particularly popular, giving visitors the opportunity to learn more about these lifesaving skills and the importance of knowing what to do in an emergency.
Visitors were also invited to take a closer look inside one of our ambulances and find out more about the equipment our crews use. Demand was so high that queues formed for both the demonstrations and ambulance tours throughout the day.
Thankfully, the weather stayed on our side, helping to make it a great day for everyone involved.
There was plenty to see across the wider event too, with Thames Valley Police showcasing the work of a number of its specialist teams, including the Dog Unit, Mounted Section, Armed Response and Tactical Response Units.
A huge thank you to Steven, Luke and all the SCAS colleagues who supported the event. Everyone got involved and helped make the day a real success, providing a valuable opportunity to engage with the local community, raise awareness of our services and share important lifesaving information.
Following such a positive response, we hope to be back again next year!
