Over 60 students officially graduated from the University of Cumbria with their paramedic science degrees on Thursday, 17 July 2025.

The latest cohort of apprentice paramedics completed their Paramedic Science (Degree-Level Apprenticeship) programme after two years of dedication, resilience and hard work. Degree Apprenticeships combine vocational work-integrated learning with academic study, allowing students to continue working for SCAS on frontline, clinical operations whilst studying to achieve their paramedic qualification.

The ceremony also marked a significant milestone, with more than 140 SCAS staff now qualified through this innovative, work-based route in partnership with the University of Cumbria.

And the journey continues – with nearly 150 more undergraduates currently enrolled in the same apprenticeship programme, the future of paramedic care at SCAS is brighter than ever.

Katie Bunting, education manager – universities, at SCAS, said: “A heartfelt thank you to our education team, clinical team educators and everyone across SCAS who has supported these graduates in reaching this incredible goal. Your guidance and encouragement have helped turn aspirations into reality.”

“To all our graduates – we hoped you enjoyed this special day with your families and friends. You’ve earned every moment of celebration.”
