Gary Ford

Gary is a consultant stroke physician at Oxford University Hospitals and Royal Berkshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts.  He is also Professor of Stroke Medicine at the University of Oxford and has been Chief Executive of Health Innovation Oxford and Thames Valley since its formation as the Oxford Academic Health Science Network in 2013.  He has led the adoption of innovation in stroke care for many years including developing FAST (Face Arm Speech Test) and developing the first rapid ambulance protocol for stroke.

Gary was Director of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) stroke research network from 2005-2013.

He became a non-executive director on the board of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) in April 2021.
