Dhammika is a public health professional with over 20 years’ experience as a medical doctor, qualifying at the University of Colombo with postgraduate qualifications from the UK and the US. He has over a decade’s experience in international healthcare management at the global level
He has been the Global Medical Director of Marie Stopes International (MSI) Reproductive Choices for the last nine years, one of the largest providers of contraceptive and safe abortion care services in the world. He sits on the MSI executive team and provides professional clinical oversight to the country and Medical Directors globally, as well as operating as a Non-Executive Director for three countries. MSI has 10,000 staff with 4,000 clinicians across 37 countries.
Prior to joining the SCAS Board, he was an associate Non-Executive Director with the Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and is a member of many other committees and working groups, including with the World Health Organisation and FIGO (International Federation of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists).
