Online or by phone

  • You can use the 111.nhs.uk website or the NHS app to answer questions about symptoms, or
  • call 111 to speak to one of our team.

Whether you call or go online, it’s the same process. Just answer a few questions about the patient’s main symptoms to get the advice and help you need.

You will be directed to the most appropriate local service – this could be a referral to your GP or urgent treatment centre, consultation with a pharmacist or self-care advice at home. If appropriate, a healthcare professional (such as a doctor, nurse or paramedic) may call you back. If necessary our call handlers can transfer you to 999.

Advice for children

The online service is suitable for patients aged five and over. For advice about a child under five years old, please phone 111.

Accessibility support

111 has national support for people with hearing and speech impairments. We can arrange interpreters if needed.
