SCAS staff and volunteers were proud to take part in the County Fayre in Newbury on 15 June. Under clear blue skies, 3000 visitors enjoyed a day of countryside activities — and many stopped by the SCAS stand to learn more about our work.
Matthew Stanley, Paramedic, said:
“SCAS received a lot of heartfelt thanks from members of the public for the emergency service we provide. People truly recognise the dedication and effort we put into saving lives.”
A major highlight of the day was the ambulance display, which gave visitors the rare chance to explore inside a vehicle without the stress or urgency of an emergency. Many were surprised to see how much equipment is on board and impressed by the wide range of care our crews can deliver.
Children and young people especially enjoyed learning how to perform CPR and basic first aid — and were eager to share stories of their own injuries or times they had called an ambulance for help.
This fantastic day was made possible thanks to the dedication of our staff and volunteers who gave up their time to support the event. A big thank you to Matthew Stanley, Paramedic for leading on logistics and organising the day, Henry Thomas-Foye, Paramedic, Caroline Home, Emergency Care Assistant, Hailey Purser, Paramedic, Barry and Gavin Davies, Community First Responders, we are incredibly grateful for their contribution — and we’re already looking forward to returning to the County Fayre next year.
