South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS) is pleased to announce the forthcoming elections to appoint new members to its council of governors. This year, SCAS is seeking eight public governors, one community first responder (CFR) governor, and two staff governors to help shape the future direction of the organisation and ensure the voices of our communities are heard.
The nomination period opens on Tuesday 9 December. inviting applications from individuals who are passionate about local healthcare, engaged in their communities, and keen to play an important role in supporting and challenging the trust. The deadline for nominations is 5pm on 8 January 2026.
Once the nomination period has closed, voting packs will be sent to trust members on 30 January 2026. The election closes on 24 February 2026, with results declared on 25 February 2026.
If you care about the quality of emergency and urgent care services, want to make a difference, or are simply interested in contributing to the strategic direction of SCAS, we encourage you to consider standing for election. Governors bring valuable insight from the communities they represent and play a vital role in ensuring the trust remains responsive to local needs.
Professor Sir Keith Willett, chairman of SCAS, said:
“Governors play an essential role in making a difference to our ambulance service and they support our work to reduce health inequalities by engaging with underrepresented communities. It’s a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference. Governors act as a voice for our patients, staff, and local communities, ensuring that we remain focused on the needs of those we serve.”
Helen Ramsay, lead governor, added:
“Being a governor is an exciting opportunity to influence decision-making and contribute to the direction of the trust. Governors have a key role in holding the non-executive directors to account on the performance of the board and providing valuable feedback on the services SCAS provides.”
To stand for election, individuals must be a member of the trust – membership is free, takes only minutes to register, and is open to anyone living in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, or Hampshire, as well as to SCAS staff and CFRs.
