Learning Disability Sub-Group Chair

Anup is a part of ‘My Life, My Choice’ (a self-advocacy organisation) trying to ensure people with learning disabilities have choice and control over their own lives and are treated without prejudice. She also feeds back to their 700 members. She is involved in quality checking housing with CQC compliance, and also helps at supported living meetings with ‘Style Acre’. Anup attend meetings such as ‘My Life, My Choice’ Trustees Board and County Council Learning Disability Board. She is involved in ‘The Big Plan’ with NHS Oxfordshire and Oxfordshire County Council, making a difference for Adults with Learning Disabilities..

Anup joined the patient panel to advocate for people with learning disabilities and ensure their voices are heard in everything SCAS does. She is keen to ensure documents and information are in an accessible Easy Read format to enable accessibility and ease of understanding for Learning Disability patients.

From the patient panel meetings April 2024 to March 2025, the Patient Panel have co-produced easy read documents to make sure information is accessible. She is creating some videos with the South Central Ambulance Service, 111 team to show how accessible the service can be when adjustments are made for patients with learning disabilities and demonstrate the types of questions that may be asked during the NHS 111 triage for learning disability patients to understand the service.
