38 staff and Volunteers gave up their Bank Holiday Weekend on Saturday 24 May, to represent SCAS at the Gang Warily Emergency Service Day near Fawley in Hampshire.  This included frontline ambulance staff, Clinical Support Desk (CSD) and Specialist Paramedics, Specialist Operations Response Team (SORT) and Resilience Staff, The Adult Critical Care Transfer Service, Community First Responders/Volunteers, Driver Training, Student Paramedics, Corporate Staff from Recruitment and Communications, and the SCAS Charity.

Around 3000 members of the public joined us despite the grey clouds.  They had the opportunity to chat to staff and volunteers from all emergency services and associated charity organisations.

Our team took part in two exercises showcasing our emergency response and partnership working with other organisations.  Public got the opportunity to hear how we would work on scene, the treatment they could get and really hear how we respond to any give situation.

Dan Friend, Team Leader in South West Hampshire said “The Emergency Service Show was a great opportunity to talk to members of the public about the service that we provide. Our staff and volunteers, proudly showcased their roles, and that of their colleagues and showed them how we would care for them should they need us.  Over 30 staff and volunteers supported the event and I would like to thank everyone who attended and organised this great and fun day for all involved”.

The team on site were also joined by David Eltringham (Chief Executive), Keith Willett (Chair) Duncan Robertson (Chief Paramedic) and Helen Ramsey (SCAS Governor) who spent time with colleagues during the day, talking to everyone, looking around the resources on display and watching the exercise and Mascot Olympics.
