David Ross

Originally from the Northeast, my CFR volunteering began in Wokingham in 2014. I moved to Chineham in 2015 when I started the Chineham scheme where I’m now co-ordinator. In 2018 I was a founding member of the Focus Group to help drive up standards and improve communication. I’m also privileged to be part of the team that selects CFR volunteers each quarter.

My work career began in the printing industry. I was apprenticed in Stockton on Tees before going on to study Printing at Watford. I went back into the industry progressing to MD for a print supplies business that took me all over the world. In 1999 I relocated to The Netherlands and then to France running a US owned digital print business. I relocated back to the UK in 2004 after I was recruited to run a sales team selling financial services print in London. I’m used to complex environments and communication with disparate team members.

I now run my own business helping employers engage with employees who have mental health difficulties by creating wellbeing in the workplace.

In addition to SCAS, I also volunteer for Sebastian’s Action Trust where I provide on scene medical support at events for children with life limiting illnesses.

SCAS, like all parts of the NHS faces big challenges of rising demand and financial austerity. Despite this, I’m keen to see that the service performs well, serves the community and develops its role for the future.

I’m interested in business management and pre-hospital care and I’m looking forward to becoming an active member of the Council of Governors representing CFRs.
