Dan Friend, Paramedic Team Leader, organised SCAS staff and volunteers in collaboration with local services at Calshot Activities Centre, for the 2023 Emergency Services Day. Frontline Staff and CFRs attended with vehicles, to talk to the public about SCAS and give CPR demonstrations alongside the Education Team and the Adult Critical Care Transport team. Up to 2000 people attended the event on Sunday 28 May. Chas McGill, Public Governor, Hampshire, who set up the event for SCAS, said “It was a fantastic day and everyone had a great time.” Even 999 Ted was there, thanks to Neal Hoare, ECA, who busted some moves despite the heat. Loren Bennett, Staff Governor and Company Secretariat Administrator, worked tirelessly in the gazebo, talking to the public and sharing information on what we do, as well as recruitment opportunities. Dan Friend said “Staff and public feedback has been very positive. It has been a great opportunity for public engagement.” Chas and Dan hope to run another event next May so watch this space!
