Want to know how a Judge or Magistrates deal with sentencing? Find out at Southampton’s Criminal Justice Open Day.On Saturday 15 September 2018 from 10am to 3pm, everyone is invited to visit the law courts in Southampton, to go behind the scenes and find out what happens there.

If you’ve ever wondered what a magistrate does, or wanted to see what happens during a trial, now is your chance! You can even sit in the Judge’s chair, try on a Judge’s robes and wig and have your fingerprints taken. With fun for all the family, you can meet the emergency and prison transportation services, and check out inside their vehicles.

Aimed at opening the world of criminal justice to all ages, visitors will have a chance to tour the court building (including the cells), view Crown and Magistrates’ Courts mock trials and sentence cases and speak with a Judge and Magistrates to gain an understanding of what it takes to fulfil their role.

At our outdoor stand you will have the opportunity to find out about our job and volunteering opportunities, together with browsing inside an ambulance.

A family day out
Along with the behind-the-scenes look around, for younger children there will be a soft play area and face painting available on the day.

There is no parking available at the law courts, so please use the multi-story car park located in Bedford Place.
